FlavourBank

"But when the past is gone, after the people are dead, after their things are destroyed...smell and taste linger on, like souls, ready to remind us..." Swann's Way, Marcel Proust

The FlavourBank is a physical archive of tinctures, dried plants, other preserved edibles, storytelling in form of recipe collections, cross disciplinary-conversations, performances as well an experimental olfactory flavour archive: all ways to capture our fleeting flavourscapes in an age of imbalance between the human and more-than-human species.

Within this we are actively investigating and reimagining new ways to document and store flavours using artistic practices as well as culinary preservation techniques. This archive will also record more-than human flavours, as after all we share this life with life as an entirety. Our project aims to reach growers, chefs, home-cooks, artists, musicians, scientists, writers and community activists alike, in the hope that together we can create a more sustainable and flavour rich topography for all generations to come. Intrinsically, we are specifically seeking connection with women changemakers in food and art as an act of ritual passage.
